And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is name. Luke 1; 46:49

In 1873 after a period of losses, Horatio G. Spafford was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write the hymn, “When peace like a river attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll, Whatever my lot, you have thought me to say: It is well, it is well, with my soul” When Hannah, sought the fruit of the womb in prayer and the priest thought she was drunk, she said, “I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord.1 Sam 1:15 (KJV)”. The psalmist writes, “He restoreth my soul: Psalms 23:3 (KJV)” Mary proclaimed, “My soul doth magnify the Lord” Luke 1:46 (KJV). Whatever your lot will be, just declare “it is well, it is well, with my soul” for the Lord will restore, refresh and renew your soul. The S.O.U.L is the Savior’s Operative that Usurps the Lies of the devil.

You either succumb to the lies or you usurp the lies with the savior’s operatives which are found in the works of His blood, His body and His promises. He said, If you love me obey my commandments. Yes, you love the Lord. Continue to ask for His grace to obey His commandments. This can be done through prayers. As you do so regardless of the pain or sorrow just continue to declare, it is well, it is well with my soul. Why make this declaration? Just like Mary, He has looked upon your weaknesses and has done “great things” for you. Things that your natural strength and wisdom could not have done, like Mary being overpowered by the Holy Ghost to bring forth Jesus our Savior, like Hannah who had been teased that she would not have a baby but God blessed her with Samuel and five more sons and like Horatio who is blessed with a Children’s Centre. You should because “All generations will learn from your achievements and thank God that you had the grace to wait on the Lord to obtain such blessings. Today we talk about Samuel the prophet, Jesus our Savior and sing the hymn, It is well, it is well with my soul.

No matter what people say or do. No matter what lies they propagate. No matter what advantage they may have, the Savior’s operative will produce the desired effect which we know is always better than the present state. So I want your to confess: Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: which are, He forgives all thine iniquities; heals all thy diseases; redeems thy life from destruction; crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies; satisfies your mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s (Psalm 103:2-5 KJV). Just like Mary with Jesus, Hannah with Samuel and Horatio with the Spafford Children’s Centre in Jerusalem the results of your actions will inspire future generations. So sing “It is well, it is well, with my soul and all generations will call you blessed and be blessed” Amen!
