...70 disciples came back very happy. They said, “Lord, even demons obey us when we use the power and authority of your name!” Luke 10:17 (GW)
Risk, a word that is feared especially where caution has been the watch word with ones upbringing. This is compounded by the misapplication of faith teachings, where faith has been equated to believing without action. The word however describes a person who believes but do not act in faith as foolish (James 2.20).Yet still we do not take risk with our thoughts, finance or future. One has been thought to conform and any attempt at doing what is “RISKY” is met with great caution and warnings.
However our walk with the Lord is full of risks as He tells us, greater works will we do if we believe in Him (John 14:12). How can we accomplish “greater works” if we do not take risk with His instructions?Risk as an acronym is: Reaching Into the Saviour’s Knowledge.
Reaching Into the Saviour’s Knowledge enables one to engage in R.I.S.K.Y. activities because one applies the knowledge of the Saviour in all one does. As we approach risk as the acronym describes, our attitude will change from risk aversion to risk takers. Let us look at some examples of people who took the risk:
The servants at the wedding of Cana took a huge risk, having to serve water as wine (John 2). They did and served the best wine.
The woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5). Reached out to the knowledge of Christ and received her healing whilst others just followed.
Simon Peter having toiled all night without a catch (Luke 5:5) took the risk of applying the Saviour’s word. He did and was overwhelmed with the haul of fish.
Blind Bartimaeus reached out for the saviour’s knowledge even though he was incapacitated. He took the risk of shouting to get His attention. Whilst others were grumbling at his action. His risky behavior resulted in gaining his sight (Mark 10:46-52).
If you have been extremely cautious because of fear or the misapplication of faith principles, it is time to take off the cloak of risk aversion and wear the cloak of a risk taker with Christ. As you take the risk with Christ His perfect love will bring you wholeness
The servants at the wedding, the woman with the issue of blood, Simon Peter having no catch after a night of toiling and blind Bartimaeus all had their problems resolved when they reached into the Saviour’s Knowledge. Reaching Into the Saviour’s Knowledge is a risk worth taking. Again like the seventy who returned very happy, as you take the risk with Christ, may you have a very happy outcome. Amen
