Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?”
1 Kings 3:9 (NLT)
A leader is defined as one with the authority to direct. Every child of God has the capacity to lead having been given a measure of faith by which s/he can direct and establish the revealed. We lead our homes, groups, workplaces, churches or nations. Again each one is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ (Ephesians 4:7) to operate.
Do not feel inferior as all humankind have leadership potentials in different measures and should not view leadership as one who leads millions. Moses, a great leader was advised to create other leaders to rule over groups of thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens to support his overall duties (Exodus 18:21)
Do not despise the start of any leadership training. David started by tending to his father’s flock. He fought the lion and the bear to protect them. He graduated with success and performed credibly against Goliath even though he did not have the title, “Leader”. When he confronted Goliath, the Lord enabled him to deliver His people as David had the revelation that He is Jehovah Sabboath (1 Samuel 17:37-45) He went on to lead the army and his country.
A great leader serves, directs and enables the people as instructed by the Lord. The greatest of all human leaders is John the Baptist (Matthew 11:11a) with the capacity to preach repentance, identify the savior and declare, “I must decrease so He must increase” (John 3:30) when he was mistaken for Christ by the Jewish leaders. Christ affirmed this position of leaders being enabled by the Father when he declared at the point of crucifixion “Not my will but your will be done” and an angel came to strengthen Him (Luke 22:43).Great leaders are enablers of the Fathers will who enables them in fulfilling their duties.
Therefore resolve to lead as you have been enabled by God. You must lead with the strength God supplies so that in every way God receives glory through Jesus who declared in comparison to John the Baptist’s leadership, “Notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he” Matthew 11:11b (KJV) You will do great things as a leader. Amen.
