Let the words from the book of the law be always on your lips. Meditate on them….be careful to live by all that is written in it. If you do, as you make your way through this world, you will prosper and always find success. Joshua 1:8

It is interesting to note that “Ignorance of the law excuses no one”. Hence you can be punished or loose your rights for disobeying the law. Law as an acronym is Life’s Anchoring Wisdom. The law of the Lord is intricately linked to His love for humankind and being ignorant of His life’s anchoring wisdom can lead to serious deficiencies in one’s life journey.

Importantly, at every stage of His relationship with humankind He gives unambiguous laws and instructions and keeps reminding humankind of the benefits associated with keeping them. In the Garden of Eden He said to Adam, “Eat freely from any and all trees in the garden….. but the day you eat the fruit of this tree (Knowledge of good and evil), you will certainly die” (Genesis 2:16-17).He said to Abraham, “Get out of your country, from your family..I will make you a great nation…in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Genesis 12:1-3). He reminded Moses and the people of Israel, “Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine (Exodus 19:5)

Adam failed to keep the law and suffered, Abraham kept the instructions and benefitted – his belief was counted as righteousness. His unwavering faith enabled him have a child in his old age (Romans 4:13-23) and Moses kept encouraging the children of Israel to obey the Lord’s commandments.

The Lord has declared His love for us by giving His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). His Son reminds us of the intricate link between love and His commandments,“If you love Me, keep My commandments (John 14:15), and “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him (John 14:23).

Do not be ignorant of the L.A.W as obeying these come with benefits. These include, Peace that is not of this world (John 14:27). Full joy when you ask in His name (John 16:23-24). An overcomer of the world through faith (1 John 5:4) and above all the Eternal and His Son making their abode with you (John 14:23) and writing the laws in your mind and heart (Hebrews 8:10). Be aware of His L.A.W as your success is linked to your knowledge and obedience of this. Amen
