The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride.
Ecclesiastes 7:8
Solomon declared, “He has made everything beautiful in its time” however the journey of life is punctuated with anxious moments especially when we experience delays in the manifestation of our desires. For example, with the management of our finances or when our health is challenged, we become impatient because we want resolutions our way and our time.
Be encouraged by the reality of Solomon’s statement as we look at the lives of the following people:
Abraham was childless at 75 with no hope of maintaining posterity, however, he met with the Lord and was assured of a better end. The Lord declared “Get out of your country…….To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great, And you shall be a blessing (Genesis 12 1-2). Abraham became the father of many nations.
Second, Naomi was in a hopeless situation after the loss of her husband and children. She heard that the Lord had visited His people by giving them bread and decided to return. She did and her end was described as “There is a son born to Naomi.” And they called his name Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David” (Ruth 4:17) Another beautiful ending.
Third, the lame man at the pool of Bethesda had no help in getting into the pool to receive healing. He met Christ who said, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man was made well (John 5:8). His end was beautiful.
The fourth is another lame man placed daily at the Beautiful gate to beg for money. He had done this for 38 years with no hope. He met Peter and did his usual, asking for alms. Peter, however, said, “Silver and gold I do not have…. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. (Acts 3:5-7).
All these four examples had no hope of a beautiful end. You may find yourself in a similar position with no hope, but there is an end to every matter. Your Eternally Negotiated Destination will be better and beautiful. Don’t give up. Be of good cheer for He is able and will make a way for you just as He did in the lives of Abraham, Naomi, the lame men at the pool of Bethesda and the Beautiful gate. Be excited about your eternally negotiated destination. Amen.
