Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalms 16:11 (KJV)
There is a journey of life which has it’s twist and turns. The path we take is often determined by opportunities and knowledge. Should these be the true determinants of your path? Are you unhappy with the results of your path? It will be appropriate to review you path against the definition stated above? Is your path determined by self, culture or needs? Are you satisfying others or are you promoting the truths of the Almighty in humility? Are you threading on peoples freedom because you must have what is determined culturally? Do you care about the footprints you leave behind? If you do then take a cue from the disciples of Jesus. They had their paths fully determined by the culture of the day. They were fishermen and tax collectors. In the case of Apostle Paul, a lawyer, a Pharisee, a Hebrew, a Benjaminite and a Jew.
However, when he decided to change his path to Promote the Almighty’s Truth in Humility, he made this profound statement, “I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ” Philippians 3:8 (KJV) Are you ready for a new PATH? You must be prepared to change directions. What did Paul exchange for the knowledge of Christ? Tradition: Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel. Tribe: of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; Profession: as touching the law, a Pharisee, What professional roles or values tramp those of the Lord? Self direction: Concerning zeal, persecuting the church as touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.Philippians 3:4-7 (KJV)
Paul changed his source of confidence from traditional values, tribe, profession and self righteousness to humility in the knowledge of Christ. Are you ready to make those sacrifices which allow you to come to a godly conclusion like Paul? He was a human like all of us but he was able to thread a new path by giving up all earthly accolades and values to the a path that promoted the Almighty’s truths in humility. You can do it. Whatever you’ve been through, God will enable you to use those experiences to promote His kingdom in His way. You can make it with God. Trust Him as you walk in humility and you will be able to declare as the psalmist declared in the above verse, “Thou will show me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Amen.
