Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27 (KJV)
Life is filled with periods of uncertainties and every individual seeks assurance during these times. Uncertainties generate anxieties which make us ask questions such as how, when, where, which and what is going to happen? Truly, if we follow the worlds’ definition of peace: freedom from disturbance; quiet and tranquility , this will NEVER be our experience. Christ however states, His peace is not as the world gives. His peace is defined in the face of uncertainties as “Problems Eased by the Authority Christ Exerts” Whilst the world’s peace is freedom from disturbances, Christ peace is about relieving the burden during periods of anxiety. Christ did not promise us a life devoid of uncertainties as He knew that disturbances are part of our journey with him and has on different occasions in scriptures alerted us to His peace.
The Apostle Paul in Phil 4:6-7 (KJV) declared: Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. We need to view uncertainties or problems differently because when our heart and mind is stayed on Christ we will be free form diseases such as high blood pressure or premature aging. Let us view uncertainties or problem as, platforms of progress. Their resolution reveals the glory of God and also brings order in a disorderly situation.
No wonder James tells us to be joyful when we fall into divers temptations as this will work our patiences and when this happens we will become complete desiring nothing. (James 1:2-4) As you journey “Let not your heart be troubled, be not afraid and do not worry when you first tell God every detail of your needs in earnest and thankful prayer. After you have poured out the uncertainties, rest in the peace of God which transcends all our powers of thought as His peace guards your hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:6-7) In this position you will be able to draw on the revelatory knowledge of God to handle the problem. Remember to trust in the Lord always and when He leads you, you will certainly arrive at a perfect destination. Walk in His PERFECT PEACE as He will perfect all that concerns you. Amen
