But while Peter was walking on the water, he saw the wind and the waves. He was afraid and began sinking into the water. He shouted, “Lord, save me!”Then Jesus caught Peter with his hand. He said, “Your faith is small. Why did you doubt?” MATTHEW 14:30-31
This is the time to stay focussed on the Lord to remain afloat, it is not the time to be looking at your circumstances. Thank God, we have entered the third month of the year, with nine more to go. You should not be afraid of all the disasters around, such as conflicts, persecution, lies, abductions, theft, financial difficulties and the lack of power. Rather you should stay true to the ways of God and must resist the temptation to submit to any inferior nature which has the potential to kill, not just your body but also your soul. In the text read, Peter was “walking on waters” when his submission was to Jesus.
However when he changed focus from Christ and submitted to the inferior circumstances (the wind and the waves) around him, he started to sink. What has the Lord instructed you to do? Are you seeking direction from Him regarding your walk of faith, financial dealings, marriage, business dealings, family affairs, children, your relationships with people or your future? Have you taken you eyes of Him, like Peter to look at the circumstances? Is your path now determined by external factors which are inferior?
Good is not equal to Godly so if you have changed directions based on what looks good, you must reconsider your actions by refocussing on Christ who will bring a Godly conclusion – afloat and not sinking To stay afloat resolve always to walk by faith and love. Second, be obedient to what the Lord has revealed and moreover, act in accordance to the truth not the circumstances. Christ will continue to keep you “walking on waters” so do not doubt His promises as you WALK BY FAITH AND NOT BY SIGHT. AMEN
